Full review: http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarreviews/236731/renaultsport_clio_200_cup.htmlEvo's Stephen Dobie has been running a Renaultsport Clio 200 Cup long term review car since September 2009, and in that time it has covered over 22,000 miles. Many of those have been brutal, too, in the hands of road testers in big group tests (including evo Car the Year) and on trackdays in Stephen's spare time, including one at Belgium's tricky Spa circuit. So how much of a toll have those big miles taken? The Clio headed to our local rolling road, LS Power near Turvey, to find out...

Feb 8, 2012 - @bmancodgta4 half a second to 60mph. thats not very much. u could get that time but simply reducing weight and upping the power abit. i dont see the point in making it a mid engined hatch. makes no sense. u put a car in the middle for better weight distribution. that doesnt work if u put weight in the front just to compensate for it.
rumblestripradio Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - Interesting, does that dyno add a percentage back in to come up with those numbers? The 197hp from the factory is at the flywheel, that 205 is at the wheel. Usually there is a 15% drivetrain loss in a manual transmission car.
account924 Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - @Pholau Well, it couldn't be that bad since Evo Magazine put it 25th on their Best Driver's Cars of The Last 50 Years List. But granted, Renaultsport Clio Trophy (which is front engined and previous model) is 7th, sharing its place with Ferrari F50. BTW Renaultsport Clio 200 Cup (the hottest version of the latest model) is 61st. Of course that list, like any list, is debatable. But i wouldn't sell mid engined hatches short.
dagnut Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - Just to put all you clowns at ease..firstly that figure is a flywheel estimate ,calculated from WHP.
bmancodgta4 Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - @Pholau I never said anything about making this one mid-engined, I just said the one that is mid-engined is crazy. I like both
Wuggizle Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - Renault always downplay the actual horsepower their cars have.
revalot86 Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - ive had both the 197 and 200 models and both of them at the rollers pulled more than the book says. my 197 pulled 209.5 bhp with a ITG panel filter and my 200 pulled a 211.3 bhp with an ITG panel filter both had low milage
daedruoY Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - So to sum up Ive ragged the fuck out of this car everywhere. Good lad.
turbo311 Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - Want in USA!!!
dilawer321 Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - @turbo311 NOOOO, then they can fuck it up like they did evo, impreza, focus etc, everything they send to the usa becomes FAT, HEAVY and crap!!!!
turbo311 Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - @dilawer321 Are you saying those cars got that way because of the US market? Not likely. Crash standards in Europe are the same. Euro pedestrian safety standards have made cars ugly in front. GTI, Impreza, Focus, Evo are all the same worldwide minus a few details. Hatchbacks are just so hated in the states that we don't get things like the Clio. We're lucky to still have the GTI.
dilawer321 Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - @turbo311 Yes those cars are garbage now because of the us market, the gti isnt so bad, and when i said focus i ment the new focus if anyone looks at the pictures and spec of the new focus st its obvious that ford had the us market when they designed that piece of shit, evo and impreza used to be made for a small niche market, since they started selling it in usa they have gone bigger and heavier, when car makers start trying to please the us market, they miteswel not sell the car in europe.
turbo311 Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - @dilawer321 eh, maybe. It's debatable. Niche cars are great, but they don't get the sales numbers that the makers need to keep in the lineup. Performance models are always based on an econobox that has to meet standards. The WRX was made to have more wide appeal, and Subaru realized the huge mistake and made changes, but it's still not what the WRX was. Same could be said about the Evo, but it still performs, but Mitsubishi wanted to upscale the Lancer in general.
dilawer321 Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - @turbo311 Yeah exactly, thats why these cars should stay as niche cars, to be honest theres no other hot hatch like these left besides mayb the focus rs
orangeorphan Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - i dont get it. no drivetrain loss?
MrBenSThomas Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - Tasty. Check out ozrenaultsport(dot)com if you're an Aussie with a RenaultSport.
kimi982 Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - i wanna get the clio 200, but the cup chassis is not available here in uae. Wonder if it's that big a difference feel off-track, but speedy street driving?...
s1914 Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - Well you'd expect it to be OK wouldn't you? As the engine beds in and loosens up a bit it probably will give a bit more grunt. Do the test again please after 75,000 miles.
TheUvox Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - @MrBenSThomas we are there dude....U-Vox
berroalejandro Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - is this the cup version or the standard one?
GuaranaClyde Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - @orangeorphan No, it's just that the engine produces more BHP than stated by Renault. Drivetrain loss is still present as it should be.
sax0joe Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - The official time round the ring for the v6 is 8:54 and theres a vid on here of a guy doing a ring trackday in a clio 200 in 8:18 why would anyone get the v6?
warwickstingray Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - The power claims on these engines are in DIN PS. So on the old 182 would have been called the clio 176 if it was in normal BHP. This is about 149 bhp at the wheels. A good one will make that. I'm always amazed the state some cars go to rolling roads in. To get a good figure you car must be properly run in, have recently been serviced and the tires correctly inflated. The car will also make more on cooler days due to colder denser air. You must also have the right fuel. 98+ octane in these cars.
santclause1 Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - mine made 209bhp 168ft torque all stock. but it only has 16000miles on it. and has been run in properly.and not thrashed within and inch of it,s life. my FN2 before 200cup. made 215bhp with 156ft torque. clio is atleast 2-3sec faster to 120mph. thats without any corners. also seen 182,s with 174bhp. so what it weighs fuck all and about even with 200 in a straight. will lose round corners though. it,s not about power. it about enjoying the car.

bmancodgta4 Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - 205 wHP is pretty impressive
